Celebrating 75 years of ministry of making a loving difference in Jesus’ name!

Are you ready for a special and festive worship service with beautiful flowers, special music, guest preacher, and thanksgiving for ministry past, present, and to come? Then, save the date for Sunday, July 24 at 10 o’clock. We will gather in the CLC sanctuary for worship. The service will be live-streamed and recorded to share with friends and neighbors.

Following the worship service, you are encouraged to stay for lunch, ice-cream, and anniversary activities. A hotdog lunch with all the fixings will be prepared in the church kitchen and served in the fellowship hall. You have the options of eating your lunch in the comfort of the air-conditioned fellowship hall, on the patio facing Augustine Avenue, in the church parking lot where tables and chairs will be assembled, or on the picnic tables on the church playground. The idea is to make good use of the church property and to spread out in areas that work best for your families’ needs. At 12:30 an ice-cream truck will arrive and be parked on Augustine Avenue by the playground. Everyone is invited to enjoy an ice-cream. If you are able, please bring 75 cents for your frozen treat. We will have sidewalk chalk and corn-hole boards set up on the sidewalk and grassy areas for folks to enjoy at their leisure. Children are encouraged to play on the playground. Over the course of the afternoon, please take some time to visit the Welcome Hall and walk through the CLC timeline, which provides an overview of the history of the congregation. You are invited to “leave your mark” on the timeline. There will be puzzles and coloring books set up in the Welcome Hall as well. The church office will send the complete collection of Robert Kravetz’s “Did you know?” series on CLC history as a PDF document to the congregation via email.  If you would like a copy emailed to you, please contact the church office. Hardcopies will be available by request.

Does all this fun have you wondering what you will wear on Anniversary Sunday? The Anniversary Sunday Committee suggests wearing something red, such as a CLC 75th Anniversary t-shirt. The design is under way, and we will soon notify you about pricing and ordering instructions through the Hub, our social media, as well as at Sunday worship.

The t-shirts are also the perfect wardrobe choice for CLC’s night out at the Fredericksburg Nationals on Saturday, July 30th at 6:05 p.m.  We have reserved group tickets and premium seating in the first base line sky porch as the Fred Nats play the Salem Red Sox. In addition, you will be able to mingle and switch seats as you wish within our private area throughout the game. Like last year, your ticket price includes an all you can eat buffet. The park will also host a Theme Night, “Christmas in July.” The ballpark will be turned into a winter wonderland and the FredNats will be spreading cheer. Plus, be on the lookout for Santa! Tickets cost $35.50 for adults and $20.00 for youth and children paid directly to Christ Lutheran. Please indicate your desire to come to the ballgame by contacting Pastor Lou. Then, further details about payment and attendance will be shared directly with you. There are limited numbers of tickets, so [please express your interest early.

The Anniversary festivities will continue throughout 2022. In early September, each household at CLC will be given a set of 75 ministry cards that tell 75 stories about ministries at CLC. You will be invited to pray over a card a day in preparation for Commitment Sunday, November 20th where we will celebrate how God is inviting us to share our financial resources, our time, and our talents in the life of Christ’s church in 2023. The CLC Stewardship Panel, made up of members of CLC who find joy in giving and serving, will share their stewardship experiences with the congregation on Sunday, November 13th. There’s a party being planned for Commitment Sunday too, so be sure to save the date, so you can join the fun and get on board!
